Residential Systems

Utility Energy SA follow a comprehensive design and quotation process to ensure we identify the best solar energy solution for your home.

We have developed a stress-free process to save you time and energy while we develop and prepare a Customised Solar Energy Proposal, specific to your energy requirements.

Our first objective is to provide you with an overview of what can be done, what the considerations are, and the consequent implications. As this is ordinarily an early stage of the journey, we will request specific information from you (input data), most of which can be extrapolated from your current electricity bills.

Our design engineers will prepare and mail you a comprehensive document detailing the system design, the investment options and a financial analysis for your consideration.

Should you proceed, we will deal with all the required municipal building- and electric codes, permits, inspection processes, and certifications, paving a clear path for your solar energy system.

If you know what you are looking for, please mail us on inquires@uesa.co.za and request a quote. We prefer quoting so we can look at your order as a whole and confirm stock availability. All our products are Tier-One Solar Products (unless otherwise requested) and carry manufacturer’s warranties and/or guarantees. We will deliver to your site address across Southern Africa.

Our team share decades of industry experience, products and solutions. We stay up to date with new products (Subscribe to our Newsletter) and incorporate Smart Technologies to monitor, calibrate and report on your system/s, giving you total remote control management of your energy system.

Lastly, we offer Smart Micro-Grid Solutions for residential cluster projects ie complexes, estate etc. There are numerous financial, management and ownership benefits which can be included during your development phase, offering your end-user/home owner vastly more than grid-reliant alternatives.

Commercial Systems

A Solar Energy system for businesses and commercial sites, is a financially feasible, and highly effective solution to reduce energy costs and supply risks which effects the organisation’s day-to-day operations.

The benefits of solar energy can ordinarily be justified entirely in financial terms for most businesses, with Capex write downs, Tax incentives and improved bottom line revenues.

In our experience, the number one issue is lost production hours. The quantified cost to recoup lost production time includes lost revenues, remaining operating costs ie rent, wages/salaries etc and the additional ‘over-time’ rates that needs to be paid in some cases where the business needs to make up the lost production time.

For most businesses it is a combination of financial, environmental, marketing and green credentials that determine their considerate benefits.

The initial planning phase will assess your buildings’ current power demand. Our technical team will perform a Class1 power audit on your premises for a period of 7 -28 days to quantify the energy usage and consumption data specific to the site.

Every building or business is unique. Our engineers will design an energy system specific to your requirements and consult with your company to ensure maximised ROI (Tax, Monitoring and Control etc) Inquire here about how we can assist your company to realise a comprehensive range of benefits [SA Company Tax Incentives for Solar Energy]

Off-grid solar systems

An off-grid system is not connected to an electricity supply grid, in other words, it operates entirely independent. Because it stands alone, it requires a battery bank to store power for periods of time when there is no or insufficient sun available.

An accurate design for an off-grid solar system is therefore of critical importance in order to ensure the site has sufficient power available. The system needs to generate enough power throughout the year to provide direct (sun-hours) usage, load the battery bank sufficiently and have the necessary battery capacity to meet the installed location’s electrical energy requirements and/or peak demand.

Our off-grid solar system sizing and specification design will be based on your daily energy consumption and peak Watt requirements, which we accurately ascertain with specialised monitoring software and energy metering data loggers for maximum accuracy.

Generally, we would not propose an off-grid system for an urban area site. This view is due to the fact the either the utility provider and/or the local municipality, will charge your erf a fixed monthly fee for grid-supply, which is already connected. Off-grid systems are ideal for locations where there are no grid connections and remote rural sites. In such cases, the costs of setting up your own power generation system is off-set by the savings of laying grid-connection cables to your site, installation of distribution boards etc. by a utility company.

Energy farms

Energy farming is becoming a feasible solution to South Africa’s energy crisis and the country’s sun-hour yields offer significant benefits for solar farming. There are a number of energy farms that have been completed, a whole lot more in the pipeline and it has already been adopted in both the agricultural and industrial sectors as a feasible energy solution.

An Energy Farm would ordinarily be a large, decentralized solar array that generate and supply electricity to a power grid. Energy farms are used to supply the national grid with additional capacity or it can be a closed grid which supplies a specific network. Properties in the area can draw power from this grid and pay metered usage to the utility supplier.

The agricultural industry is utilising solar as a way to increase their energy independence and maximise cost savings. Solar energy can boost agriculture productivity through readily available, cost effective electricity for all farming requirements.

Farms with grid-tied systems have additional benefits for the local communities as they are able to export excess generation power into the national grid.

Due to the size requirements of solar farms, available land is a primary consideration. The quick calculation is 1kW/9m² ie a solar farm with an output capacity of 1MW (one thousand watts) would require around 9000 m². For more information, please contact us on inquiries@uesa.co.za
